Jason Momoa is returning to the DC Universe in a big way, this time as the intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. After portraying Arthur Curry (a.k.a. Aquaman) in several films, the 45-year-old actor confirmed he'll bring the foul-mouthed antihero to life in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In a December 30 post on social media, Momoa shared a screenshot from a 2023 Fandango interview in which he declared Lobo "the perfect role." Accompanying the quote was a simple caption that made the news official: "They called."
Set to arrive in theaters on June 26, 2026, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow introduces House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Ana Nogueira and also features Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hill and Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle. Based on the DC Comics miniseries by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the movie promises a fresh take on the Superman family's mythos, with James Gunn and Peter Safran continuing to reboot the DC Universe through titles like Superman (2025) and Clayface (2026).
Momoa's journey as Aquaman began with 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by a solo film in 2018 and the 2023 sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The actor is also slated to appear in 2025's A Minecraft Movie, and he's producing and starring in several other projects, including The Wrecking Crew alongside Dave Bautista and the historical miniseries Chief of War.
