Stanley Tucci Reflects on Career Challenges Post-'The Devil Wears Prada'

Stanley Tucci is being up about the challenges he had in his career after The Devil Wears Prada. After the 2006 picture, which was a box office hit and won two Oscars, the actor, who portrayed Nigel in the film starring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt, recently told Vanity Fair that he had trouble finding another role. "I couldn't get a job after The Devil Wears Prada, and I didn't quite understand that, but that's just the way it was," Tucci stated. "So, even though I didn't particularly want to do it, I went ahead and did it."

The Conclave actor stated that his acting career has "always gone through these fluctuations, and sometimes it's just the business," but he did not name which previous movies he did not want to work on. Sometimes you couldn't work for personal reasons. Tucci clarified, "Being ill six years ago threw a wrench into the works for a while, and then you slowly get back." However, I had to get started. I had to work in order to make money. Most likely, I began working too soon. After the treatments, I didn't really have the stamina to do it, but you had to, and you finally get back up.

Apart from the David Frankel-directed movie, Tucci has acted in other films over his career, such as Julie & Julia, Spotlight, Patient Zero, The Hunger Games franchise, and The Lovely Bones, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor. Original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is also working on a Devil Wears Prada sequel at Disney, but Tucci has not yet stated whether he would return to the part.
