Police Chase Culminates in Man's Death on Streatham Railway Line

A 34-year-old man has lost his life subsequent to a police chase in south London. According to the Metropolitan Police, the man failed to pull over while driving through Streatham around 03:30 BST on Tuesday.

Following a collision in Brunswick Mews, the man fled from his vehicle. His lifeless body was later discovered on a railway line in proximity to Estreham Road.

The incident is currently under scrutiny by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), the police oversight body.

As the man's vehicle neared Streatham High Street, officers attempted to halt him. The Metropolitan Police disclosed that the man was last seen alive in Potters Lane before losing contact with the pursuing officers.

After the man was sighted on the railway tracks, Metropolitan Police officers requested the power to the tracks be cut off to ensure safe access.

Despite the arrival of emergency medical services, the man had already passed away. The police have reported that the man's next of kin have been informed of the tragic incident.

The Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Professional Standards has also been notified about the case.
