Chinese and American Divers Reflect on Performance in Women's Synchronized 3m Springboard Event

Divers Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook became the first US athletes to win a medal for Team USA at the Paris Olympics on Saturday: a silver in the women's synchronized 3m springboard event.

China's Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen won the gold medal in the women's synchronized 3m springboard event, earning their country's second gold medal of the Games. Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook of the United States claimed the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Yasmin Harper and Scarlett Mew Jensen of Great Britain.

Chen mentioned that she was "maybe a little bit" nervous and expressed her gratitude to the audience for their support during a press conference at the Aquatics Centre in Paris on Saturday after the event. Following her gold medal win, she is already looking ahead to what comes next.

"Now that we've finished the synchronized event, we have gained a clearer understanding of the competition process and have become acquainted with the facilities here. This will be advantageous for the individual event," she said.

Cook expressed the aspiration to eventually win the gold medal, aiming to surpass China in the competition.

Cook acknowledged China's longstanding dominance in diving, emphasizing their admiration for Chinese techniques while also viewing them as peers. Looking forward, Cook expressed a goal to eventually surpass them in competition, believing that studying their performances has contributed to their own improvement.
